walking around in Firá

As I wrote earlier, we were staying at the Hotel Stavros Villas, which is located 3km away from the capital of Santorini: Firá. So after spending the whole afternoon and night walking around in Oia on the day before, we started our Sunday with a walk to the opposite side of the island to see the coast - before walking to Firá in the search for breakfast. The weather forecast said that it would rain and we expected the worst, but the weather was wonderful and the sun was shining the whole day.

This time of year, the nature isn't that beautiful since everything has been burned by the strong sun and as far as the eye can reach there are fifty shades of brown... But I can imagine that it is a completely different experience if you come earlier during the season when all the wine yards and orchards are green. Although it's a a small island, there are more than 18 wineries to visit... So at some point of the year, the island should be covered in greed leafs...

We found a nice restaurant with an amazing view over the ocean where we shared a breakfast and spoke a lot to our waiter who were happy to hear that we were Erasmus students and who gave us some good advice about Greece.

After our breakfast we walked around in Firá and to the other part of the city named Imerovígli where we shared a Greek salad, tzatziki and bread. And can you guess what we did after that? - we walked around even more! By the time the sun was starting to set we sat down at a restaurant and shared a cheese platter with wine while watching yet another breathtaking sunset. We talked a lot during this day and got to know each other a lot more. We talked about our dreams, our goals and so on and it was such a nice day. We also talked a lot about how happy this trip had made us, how peaceful we both felt and how grateful we are to experience all this. Summarized, this day was as perfect as it could possibly be.

With love, Elsa ♡
