Day two on Naxos

Since we only were to say at Naxos for two nights, we woke up on Friday and considered renting a car to drive around the island. But none of us felt safe driving (yes, even though it was off-season) and already around three o'clock that day we had talked to the other girls who rented a house to gather at their house and cook together.

So instead, we saved our money and met up with the other girls to walk around the city for yet another day and discover more. We ate brunch, walked around, sat down for a beer at the Portala (which is an enormous marble frame that is made out of four blocks of marble. Each of the marble bocks have a length of over 6 metres and weighing 20 tones. It is the entrance to an unfinished temple that faces directly toward Delos, Apollo’s birthplace. Since the house that the girls rented were located outside of the city and not within walking distance, they had rented a car. So in the afternoon they came by our hotel and drove us back to their house, an amazing castle entirely in pink. Emý and Hanna made the pasta (which blew my mind to be honest, one of the best I've ever tasted), and the rest of us made tzatziki, Greek salad, a big bowl of Sangria and cut up pita bread.
The food was amazing and the company even better. A few wine glasses and hours of conversations later, we took a taxi back to the center and walked home to our hotel.

It was perhaps not the most effective day in terms of discovering and exploring Naxos, but it was actually nice to have a calm and cozy day and just walk around and to just spend time together.

With love, Elsa ♡
